2019 In Review: 30 Questions To Help You Reflect Back And Look Forward

2019 In Review: 30 Questions To Help You Reflect Back And Look Forward

Happy new year!  January 1st is always welcomed in as a fresh start.  A day that brings with it 365 new days and, more importantly, 365 new opportunities.  Part of making the new year different than the past year is in reflection.  Looking back at what went well, what didn't, as well as ideas for tweaks or changes.

Reflection allows us the opportunity to slow down and live intentionally, if even for just those moments.  It allows us a framework with which we can search for moments to be grateful for in order to fully appreciate all things - big and little, that happened in our year.  Sometimes we get so focused on goals that we forget to stop and savor moments.  It's also the opportunity to think about things we wish had gone differently, learning any lessons from the event, and letting go of any regrets associated with it - you can't change what happened so letting it go is a critical step.

Go into the new year with a clean slate.

I hope you will use the following questions as prompts.  Take the time to write down your answers or really think them through in your head.  Gift yourself the time to ponder each one rather than rushing through them all in one setting.  You can use these as a jumping off point for structuring your goals or resolutions for 2020.

1. How would you describe 2019 in 5 words?
2. What was the best thing that happened in 2019?

15. What type of growth did you have (spiritually, physically, emotionally)?

17. What did you start and not finish?  If applicable, how would you like that to change going forward?
18. What did you try and fail at?  If applicable, how would you like that to change going forward?
19. How well did you communicate with those who meant the most to you this past year?

28. In what ways will you give back generously in 2020?
29. What do you want your everyday life to be like in 2020?
30. What is your number one goal for 2020?

Wishing you a healthy and prosperous new year!
